EU Fund Check
A free eligibility calculator for Romania's Start-Up Nation 2024 grant program. In about five minutes, entrepreneurs find out whether they qualify, their estimated score out of 100, and how much grant money they could receive.
Start-Up Nation is one of the largest grant programs for new businesses in Romania. The rules sit in a long official procedure that changes several times a year. Most applicants either pay a consultant to read it for them or risk applying without knowing whether they qualify.
EU Fund Check turns that procedure into a guided, four-step check: profile, company, budget, and result. A live panel next to the form updates the score, the estimated grant and the required own contribution with every answer. Every question and every result is linked to the exact article of the procedure it comes from, so users can verify everything themselves.
The challenge
The official procedure is long, written in legal language, and amended often. The tool had to stay accurate to the latest amendments, explain itself in plain language, and never ask users to simply trust a number.
What I built
I built a rules engine that runs entirely in the browser, so answers stay private unless the user decides to send them. On top of it sits a step-by-step form with source references on every question, user accounts, email alerts for deadlines, and an AI assistant in beta. The assistant answers questions with citations and can fill in the checker for the user, but the calculations themselves are always done by the engine, not by the AI.
